Koh Samui Island
Koh Samui Island, or simply Samui as it is referred to by locals. It is Thailand’s third largest island and is rich with natural resources, white sandy beaches, coral reefs and coconut trees. Compared to Koh Chang, Samui has much more to offer as far as night life, attractions, hotels, etc. I enjoyed my stay on Samui the most when compared to the other islands.
Some things to do on Samui Island
This is our favorite of the Thailand islands. Everything here seems to be self contained, with a nice variety of restaurants, bars, and shopping. All the typical Thailand amenities can be found on Samui, including massages, beaches, sailing, jet skiing, para-sailing, etc. While relaxing on the beach, you can get a foot massage, manicure, pedicure, or a full body massage. Many beaches also have bar service where they will take your order and bring you a Mai Tai without you getting up.
While on the island of Samui, be sure to visit the Big Buddha Temple, Fishman’s Village, and Hin Ta – Hin Yai rock formations on the coast line. If you enjoy scuba diving, you’ll want to visit Koh Tao, or Turtle Island, which is a short boat ride from Samui This small island is about 21 sq km and has beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal clear water.
Full Moon Parties
The Full Moon parties on Koh Phangan have become world-famous, which originated in cove of Haad Rin Beach on the southernmost tip of Phangan Island in Thailand. The sound systems broadcast music all over the beach and the alcohol flows freely.
The island is large enough and populated enough to support shopping malls with the major department stores. You need a good week or two to see and experience all the fun on Koh Samui.
While, it is possible to drive to Samui and take a ferry to the island, however, due to the distance, the best option is to fly there.
